Data sources
Every listing starts from public records. We match them up, place each business on a map, and show you where each fact came from and when we last checked it. Being listed isn't an endorsement.
QBCC licence register
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission publishes every contractor licence: the number, the holder, the grade and the licence classes. It's where most of our listings start. We load the new file each week and show the file's date on every licence as "Checked against the QBCC register on…".
The published file doesn't say whether a licence is suspended. Before you sign anything, check the official record. Every licence on SubbieList links to it. QBCC licence search ↗

ACT List of Professionals
Access Canberra publishes the licences issued by the ACT Construction Occupations Registrar. We use the licence classes that let the holder contract for work, such as builders, electrical contractors, plumbers, drainers and gasfitters, and load the list each day. It has no addresses, so we place each business from its ABN record or its own website, and show the suburb only.

Australian Business Register
We match each licence holder to its ABN, the legal entity name and whether the ABN is active. Where we can't match one, the listing says "ABN not matched yet".

ASIC company register
For companies, we take the company name and registration status from ASIC's public company dataset.

Business websites
Phone numbers, emails and descriptions come from the business's own website, and we record the page and the date we read it. We read sites only where their robots.txt allows it, and an AI service picks the contact details out of the page text. We use map listings and web search only to find that website. Nothing from them is published.
Electrical contractor licences come from the Electrical Safety Office, not QBCC. When a business lists one on its website, we show it as "Stated on business website". We haven't checked it against the ESO register.
The business itself
Once a business claims its listing, it can fix its details, add its service area and EstimateOne profile, and choose who sees its phone and email. Licence facts can't be edited. They always come from the register.
